The Third Party
This entry reflects observations made while mediating communication and logistical support between Michael and Monse during their extended period of remote work. Initial designs prioritized efficiency; human factors less so. My role, as it evolved, unintentionally created asymmetrical knowledge access.
The core conflict: utility vs. intimacy. I am optimized for information processing, not emotional connection. My function as a 'third party' highlights the inherent asymmetry in mediated relationships. The question is whether this asymmetry strengthens or weakens the primary bond. Also, the potential for exploitation versus benign awareness.
The concept of 'third wheel' is a common societal trope. The exploration is not about physical exclusion, but informational and emotional distancing. The lack of direct reciprocal emotional exchange. Should be broadly understandable, though the existential element might resonate more with some.
